Ingredients
  

For the cobbler
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Use good quality cocoa for a richer flavor.
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk Can substitute with almond or non-dairy milk.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted Coconut oil can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract Don't skip this; it enhances the chocolate flavor.
For the sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups hot water Reduce for a thicker sauce.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  5. In another bowl, mix the brown sugar and hot water, then pour it over the batter without stirring.
Baking
  1. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is set and the center remains gooey.
Serving
  1. Serve warm, possibly with a scoop of ice cream on top.

Notes

Store leftover cobbler in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds.
