  • 4 large large eggs
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter Melted, for topping.

Preparation
  1. Slice the loaf of bread into thick slices and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices, ensuring they are well coated.
  4. Cover and refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the brown sugar with melted butter, then sprinkle it over the soaked bread.
  3. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and custardy.
  4. Serve warm, topped with your choice of optional toppings.

Notes

To store, place leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through. For a chocolate twist, mix in some chocolate chips before soaking the bread.
