French Onion Chicken Rice

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or tenders
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice (uncooked)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional) Can be omitted.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 1 tablespoon butter, sliced For added flavor.
  • 1 cup French fried onions (for topping) For a crunchy texture.
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the French onion soup, cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Spread the uncooked rice evenly in the baking dish and pour the soup mixture over it. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Place the chicken on top of the rice and season lightly with additional salt and pepper, if desired.
  5. Dot the chicken with butter slices for added flavor and moisture.
Cooking
  1. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil, sprinkle French fried onions on top, and bake uncovered for an additional 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Let it rest for 5 minutes, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

This dish is perfect on its own or paired with a simple side salad or steamed vegetables. The crispy fried onions on top add a crunchy texture that contrasts beautifully with the creamy base.
