Ingredients
Method
Cooking the Beef
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat until shimmering.
- Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula into small crumbles.
- Cook until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
Cooking the Vegetables
- Once the beef has a golden crust, push it to one side of the skillet.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic to the empty side.
- Cook for about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onion is translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
Adding Broccoli
- Stir in broccoli florets, gently tossing them with the beef mixture.
- Sauté for a minute, allowing the florets to absorb some of the beef flavors.
Seasoning
- Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Stir thoroughly so every piece is coated in seasoning.
Cooking Broccoli
- Cover the skillet with a tight-fitting lid.
- Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender yet still crisp.
- Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
Finishing Touches
- Reduce the heat to low.
- Add the heavy cream and stir gently, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef and broccoli.
- Cover again and cook for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts completely.
- If using Worcestershire sauce and red pepper flakes, drizzle and sprinkle them over the melted cheese.
- Give everything one final gentle stir to incorporate the flavors.
Serving
- Remove from heat and serve hot, directly from the skillet.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat gently to maintain taste and texture. Can substitute ground beef for turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
